Match Report – Queensbury U15s 24–44 Silsden Stormettes U15s

Silsden Stormettes arrived in Queensbury with just 12 players, depleted by late injuries and illness, but absolutely not short on heart. Against a Queensbury squad of 17, on a hot, unforgiving morning, the Stormettes produced one of their most spirited and skilful performances of the season.

First Half: Trading Blows in the Heat

Queensbury struck first, using their numbers and early momentum to score a converted try for 6–0. But Silsden’s response was immediate and emphatic. Slick hands across the line released Bell, who bulldozed through defenders with her trademark blend of pace and power. 6–4, and when Daisy calmly slotted the conversion, it was level at 6–6.

Queensbury hit back again to lead 12–6, but the Stormettes refused to wilt. A brilliant solo break from Jess, full of determination and footwork, saw her crash over. Daisy converted once more — 12–12.

Straight from the restart, Silsden seized control. The ball found Bell again, and once again she simply outran and outmuscled the defence. 12–16. Daisy’s kick from the touchline smacked the upright — agonisingly close.

Silsden weren’t done. More sharp passing opened space for Jess, who danced through for her second. 12–20. Queensbury responded just before the break, narrowing the gap to 18–20, but the Stormettes jogged off with their heads high and the momentum very much theirs.

Second Half: Stormettes Take Over

Silsden exploded out of the blocks after half-time. A sweeping team move involving almost every player ended with Harriet scorching down the wing to score in the corner. 18–24. Daisy, from a distance that looked impossible, curled in a sensational conversion — one of the moments of the match.

Captain India then led by example, powering through the defensive line and launching herself over to extend the lead to 18–30, with Daisy adding yet another conversion.

Queensbury rallied to make it 24–32, but Silsden simply shifted up another gear. Jess, unstoppable all morning, sliced through for her hat-trick, underlining her importance to the team. Daisy converted again — 24–38.

With the clock winding down, Queensbury attempted a long kick to gain territory, but Daisy read it perfectly. She gathered, accelerated, and tore away from the chasing defenders to score a stunning solo try. Despite picking up an injury in the process, she stepped up and converted her own try — the final act of a heroic performance.
