U9s Show Grit in Tough Second Festival
Silsden Storm U9s were back in action today for the second leg of their mini festival group, this time hosted by Queensbury ARLFC. With Keighley Albion, Queensbury and Silsden all meeting again, it was another busy morning of rugby across four rounds of games.
It proved to be a tougher outing this time around, with both Silsden teams taking a little while to find their rhythm. Up against strong, well-organised opposition, the early stages were challenging and required plenty of resilience.
But if there’s one thing this group showed today, it’s that they don’t go down without a fight.
Across both teams, there were some really impressive moments. Big tackles flying in, players putting their bodies on the line, and a real determination to keep going no matter the score. Heads never dropped, which says a lot at this age.
There were tries too, well-worked and well-earned, giving the teams something to build on and keeping them right in the contests as the games went on.
You could almost see the confidence growing again towards the later rounds. A bit sharper, a bit braver, starting to play their rugby.
Plenty of lessons to take from today, but just as many positives. Effort, attitude, and that willingness to keep battling, you can’t really ask for more than that.
The third and final leg of the group takes place next week at Silsden, on Saturday 26th April, where the teams will be looking to build on today and finish the festival series strongly.
One of those days where you learn a lot. And sometimes, those are the important ones.
