Silsden Storm U9 vs Queensbury ARLFC U9

March 14, 2026

The sun was out and it felt like one of those perfect mornings for rugby. The pitch looked great, the boys were buzzing, and Silsden Storm U9s arrived ready to get stuck in against Queensbury ARLFC.

From the start it was clear this was going to be a tough test. Queensbury were a well-drilled side who moved the ball quickly and defended strongly, but Storm never backed down. The effort and determination from the team was there to see right from the start.

Up front, Freddy and Oscar led the charge with some brilliant forward drives, taking the ball into contact time and time again and gaining valuable metres for the team. Both also put in some excellent defensive work, with strong tackles that helped slow down the Queensbury attack. Their hard work and commitment didn’t go unnoticed, and both were deservedly awarded Man of the Match.

There was also a special moment for Jacob, making his debut for Silsden Storm. Stepping onto the field for his first game can be a daunting experience, but Jacob handled it brilliantly, showing great enthusiasm and effort throughout. His performance earned him the Supporters’ Man of the Match, a fantastic achievement on his first outing in Storm colours.

Despite facing a strong Queensbury side, the Storm players showed great teamwork, resilience and spirit throughout the game. Matches like this are where young players learn the most, and the squad continues to grow stronger with every outing.

A big well done to all the players for their effort and attitude, and thank you to the parents and supporters who came along to cheer the team on in the sunshine. Also a special thank you to the U9 sponsors, Rendacoat, SR Scaffolding and Northern Mechanical Services.
