What a day for Silsden Storm.
Today’s club takeover at Keighley Cougars had everything. Big moments, proud smiles, and that buzz you only get on proper match days.
It also marked the first outing in the brand new 2026 kit. And honestly, the U9’s wore it with pride. There’s something about pulling on a new strip that just lifts everyone a little bit. You could see it.
The U9s kicked things off with a curtain raiser against East Leeds ARLFC. A closely fought game from start to finish. Oliver and Henry made their debuts and both stepped up brilliantly. Confident, composed, and right in the mix from the first whistle.
Tries from Elliot and Noah gave us momentum, and some strong defensive sets kept pushing East Leeds back time and again. Proper teamwork. The kind where everyone does their job.
Then came the walkout.
Our U9s led the teams onto the pitch ahead of the Cougars’ match against Whitehaven RLFC, while other Storm players formed a guard of honour. One of those moments where you glance at the sidelines and see parents trying to pretend they’re not emotional.
After that, the team watched the game together. Sitting as a group. Chatting about tackles, tries, who they’d be when they’re older. That bonding time matters. Maybe more than we realise.
A huge thank you to our fantastic U9 sponsors:
- Elmar
- Kings Arms
- Rendacoat
- SR Scaffolding
- Northern Mechanical Services
Your support helps create days like this. Thank you.
And thank you to Keighley Cougars for hosting us so brilliantly, and to East Leeds ARLFC for making the trip over and giving our U9’s a great contest.
A brilliant day for the club.
New kit. Big stage. Proper memories.
One to be proud of. 💙💚
